Society affiliated science fairs around the country nominate the top 10% of 6th, 7th and 8th grade participants to enter this prestigious competition. After submitting the online application, 300 top projects are selected and 30 finalists present their research projects and compete in team hands-on STEM challenges to demonstrate their skills in critical thinking, collaboration, communication and creativity.Students in 6th, 7th or 8th grade interested in participating must first complete a science fair project and compete in a Society affiliate fair. Students prepare for the competition for several months.
There is no fee for students to apply online. There is no cost for finalists plus ONE parent/guardian to attend the Broadcom MASTERS Finals in early October.
Students in grades 6-8.
Yes; varies by level, but ranges from recognition and swag to $500 plus an all-expenses paid trip to DC for finalists. Finalist prizes and awards range from $3,500 to $25,000. Teachers and schools of student finalists are eligible for prizes.
